Free Outdoor Movies each Friday in August at Fritz Hedges Waterway Park
Grab your friends and a picnic blanket and head to the U District’s beautiful new waterfront park. In celebration of the new Fritz Hedges Waterway Park overlooking Portage Bay, enjoy a free showing of water-themed movies for all ages, live music, and sunset views each Friday in August. Portable restrooms available onsite.

The fun begins each Friday at 7:00pm with live music in the park, movies will be shown at dusk starting around 8:30/9:00pm.

Friday, August 5 – Surf’s Up

Enjoy the musical stylings of the Garlic Gulch Boys starting at 7pm. Grab a bite nearby at Agua Verde Cafe or takeout from the U District and set up your blanket or chairs for a sunset picnic. Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery will be serving up great summer flavors onsite from their ice cream cart. Enjoy crafts and activities provided by Scarecrow Video before the movie starts. Movie will begin at dusk, estimated between 8:30-9:00pm.

Rated: PG | Run time: 95 minutes
Come join Cody, a Rockhopper penguin, as he journeys from his home in Shiverpool, Antarctica, to take part in the Big Z Memorial Surf-Off on the beach of Pen Gu Island. During his adventure he meets some new friends, including surf nut Chicken Joe and the spirited lifeguard Lani.
