Samir's Mediterranean Grill
BIPOC Business
If you are looking for authentic Mediterranean food in the heart of the U District, Samir’s will make you smile. Samir’s offers classic meat dishes such as gyros and shawarma, plus an array of vegetarian items including spanakopita, stuffed grape leaves, and falafel.
Owner Samir Alawar opened the first Mediterranean restaurant in Washington state in 1974. Samir appreciates the loyal customers who make the short walk to his restaurant from the University of Washington and the surrounding neighborhood. Light Rail construction, which cuts off through traffic on NE 43rd Street, has impacted the restaurant’s bottom line and he hopes business will improve when the Light Rail station opens in 2021.
The cozy dining room features tables with a view of Samir’s spotless kitchen. Samir’s serves lunch and dinner, and offers catering for events.
