Getting to the U District

However you make your way to the U District Food Walk, you’re sure to have a great time when you arrive! To make the most of your trip to the neighborhood, we recommend you consider public transportation to help reduce traffic and maximize your time at the event.

TRAVEL BY LIGHT RAIL OR BUS

Plan your bus trip!
Wondering which bus to take? Use the handy King County Metro’s Trip Planner or Google Maps.

Travel by Link Light Rail
The U District Link Light Rail Station is centrally located in the neighborhood–getting to the U District has never been easier. Hop a light rail train and exit into the heart of the event on Brooklyn Ave NE and NE 43rd!

TRAVEL BY CAR

The U District Chow Down closes three blocks along University Way NE between NE 41st to NE 45th Street in the U District, in addition to NE 42nd and NE 43rd between 15th Ave and Brooklyn Ave. There are several pay-to-park lots within a three block radius of the event. However, bear in mind that these lots fill up by mid-day. Street parking is also available but highly limited. Whenever possible, we recommend taking public transit, your bike or walking to the event. One strategy is to park at the Northgate park and ride and take the link light rail to the U District Station. View WSDOT Traffic, Alerts, and Closures here.

TRAVEL BY BIKE OR FOOT

Take the Burke Gilman Trail
Get in a few extra steps and take the Burke Gilman Trail! The Burke-Gilman Trail is a popular recreational trail for walkers, runners, cyclists, skaters and commuters. Take the road exit at University Way NE and travel north to NE 41st for the south entrance to Street Fair!

Beside the Burke Gilman, here are a few resources to help plan your trip, Google Map Biking Directions,  DOT’s Online Biking Guide Map, or download the Seattle Biking Map.
