U District Street Fair | 2026 Poster Design Contest

Since 1970, when peace activist and merchant Andy Shiga first envisioned a festival to bring the community together through art and creativity, the U District Street Fair has been a beloved Seattle tradition. Born from a desire to bridge divides and celebrate art and community, the Street Fair has grown into the longest-running festival of its kind in Seattle.

Now, as the event approaches its 55th year, we’re looking for an artist to create the visual identity that will welcome thousands to the Ave on May 16-17, 2026. The poster design won’t just promote an event—it will become a cherished piece of U District history! Over the decades, the Street Fair poster contest has offered a chance for local artists and graphic designers to be showcased. After a brief pause during the pandemic, the poster contest has officially returned! Interested designers should review the information below and on the following pages to submit their designs for consideration by Monday, December 1, 2025.

The U District Partnership is seeking a poster design that captures what makes the U District Street Fair special: the creativity of local artists and makers, the energy of street musicians, the diversity of our community, and the spirit of connection that has defined this event for over five decades.
